HOSA Blood Drive

November is a time for giving thanks - for ERHS students it is a time to give live-saving blood.

On November 1st, the Emerald Ridge HOSA chapter held the first of two blood drives that they put on throughout the year. Members of the club worked beforehand to spread the word about the drive and get students at the school signed up and prepared to donate. Emerald Ridge students that were able to donate blood were encouraged to sign up and help the cause.

The day of the blood drive had a great turn out of people donating, approximately seventy-five students donated blood to Cascade Regional Blood Services. In addition to being able to help out a good cause in our community, the members of HOSA had the opportunity to observe and learn about the process of blood donation. As a club that focuses on students pursuing a career in the medical field, being able to be a part of experiences like this benefit them greatly. The blood drive gave each of the members a chance to strengthen their leadership skills and work together as a team. From planning the details, preparing for the day, and then keeping it running smoothly throughout the day, events such as a blood drive require lot of work. With such good results for the first drive of the year, the HOSA chapter looks forward to the next, which will take place in February. Continuing to strive to help our community is a huge goal for HOSA; the chance to provide for those around us while also furthering our own futures and experiences is always a goal.

Students involved in HOSA would also like to give many thanks to those as Cascade Regional Blood Service for helping us be able to put on a blood drive, as well as any students that signed up to donate. As we prepare for our next drive, we hope that students will continue to show support and help out the cause.
