Current Running Start Students - 

We hope that Spring Quarter is off to a great start. Now is the time to communicate with your counselor regarding Fall 2022. 

Prospective Running Start Students -

We are excited to present new and updated information about Running Start for 2022-23 school year. As you know, the Running Start Program has been a formidable option for students who would like to earn college credit while in high school. Our district continues to collaborate with many local colleges to provide these options for students and families while also remaining connected to their school and the greater Puyallup region.

STEPS FOR NEW RUNNING START STUDENTS

(2022-23)

 STEP #1

ATTEND a Running Start Information Session, see below

                  -Pierce College visit: www.pierce.ctc.edu/visit#running-start to sign up for a session

STEP #2 

APPLY to the college of your choice  

(Note: vaccination/approved exemption required for in-person learning) 

            -Pierce College – www.pierce.ctc.edu/running-start 

            -Clover Park – www.cptc.edu/running-start 

            -Tacoma Community College – www.tacomacc.edu 

  • AFTER YOU APPLY TO THE COLLEGE OF YOUR CHOICE - You will receive an email back from the college with a College ID number and instructions about how to complete your enrollment 

STEP #3 

TAKE the college entrance test to be eligible to take college-level English/Math courses 

          -Test results must show eligibility to take college-level English/Math classes at the college 

(Note: you must take Algebra II at ERHS if you have not yet taken the class)

-If you are attending a different college, contact the college directly for testing information 

 

STEP #4 

SCHEDULE an appointment with your ERHS Counselor – Appointments available after March 28, 2022  

                     -You will receive the Running Start Graduation Requirements Worksheet 

                   -You will be responsible for meeting all High School graduation requirements indicated 

                   -This worksheet will be used when meeting with your college advisor  

*Note: colleges other than Pierce & Clover Park will also involve the Enrollment Verification Form(EVF) 

 

**To schedule an appointment please call (253)435-6311 or stop by the ERHS Counseling Office before school, after school, or at lunch -
see bookings on the main counseling website.

You must bring/present the following two documents to your appointment: 

1) Running Start Agreement Form initialed and signed by you and your parent/guardian  
2) Your college placement test results (Guided Self Placement, or other required test)  

(Note:  if you do not have these documents your appointment will be re-scheduled)

STEP #5 

REGISTER for classes at the college with direction and instructions from the college advisor 

    -Pay student/course fees required by the college  

                     (Note: free/reduced lunch eligible - fees may be waived by the college)

Announcing Pierce College Running Start Information Sessions for Fall 2022 

  

Pierce College is now offering virtual Running Start Information Sessions via Zoom for fall 2022.  These sessions will last roughly 1 hour and are designed for prospective students who are interested in the Running start program at Pierce College.  The running start sessions will be every other Wednesday at 4pm beginning March 30, 2022.  

  

We will cover these topics: 

Ø  Overview of the Running Start program (i.e. eligibility requirements, costs associated with college, grades, fee waiver) 

Ø  How to get Start for fall quarter 

Ø  Benefits of Running Start 

Ø  Things to Consider 

Ø  Q&A
