Current Running Start Students -

We hope that Spring Quarter is off to a great start. Be sure to email your counselor with your Spring Quarter course selections. If plan to take a course at ERHS for the 2023-24 school year, then please notify your counselor ASAP so that he/she can lock in your class selection.

Prospective Running Start Students -

We are excited to present new and updated information about Running Start for 2023-24 school year. As you know, the Running Start Program has been a formidable option for students who would like to earn college credit while in high school. Our district continues to collaborate with many local colleges to provide these options for students and families while also remaining connected to their school and the greater Puyallup region.

STEPS FOR NEW RUNNING START STUDENTS

(2023-24)

STEP #1

ATTEND the ERHS Running Start Information Night and REVIEW the high school and college RS webpages.

STEP #2

APPLY to the college of your choice

AFTER YOU APPLY TO THE COLLEGE OF YOUR CHOICE - You will receive an email back from the college with a College ID number and instructions about how to complete your enrollment.

STEP #3

TAKE the college entrance test to be eligible to take college-level English/Math courses

-Test results must show eligibility to take college-level English/Math classes at the college

(Note: you must take Algebra II at ERHS if you have not yet taken the class)

-Pierce College: contact the testing center at: [email protected]

-If you are attending a different college, contact the college directly for testing information

STEP #4

SCHEDULE an appointment with your ERHS Counselor – Appointments can be scheduled starting March 27, 2023

-You will receive the Running Start Graduation Requirements Worksheet

-You will be responsible for meeting all high school graduation requirements indicated

NOTE: This RS Graduation Requirements Worksheet will be used when meeting with your college advisor

NOTE: Colleges other than Pierce College & Clover Park Technical College will utilize the Enrollment Verification Form(EVF)

**To schedule an appointment, please call (253)435-6311 or stop by the ERHS Counseling Office before school, after school, or at lunch. Students
can also book appts by utilizing the QR Code (a direct link to the youcanbookme scheduling site).

You must bring/present the following two documents to your appointment:

1) Running Start Agreement Form initialed and signed by you and your parent/guardian

2) Your college placement test results (Guided Self Placement, or other required test)

3) Your college identification number

(Note: If you do not have these documents your appointment will be re-scheduled)

STEP #5

REGISTER for classes at the college with direction and instructions from the college advisor

-Pay student/course fees required by the college

(NOTE: free/reduced lunch eligible - fees may be waived by the college)
